Metro to Tram
Transfer Guide 2026
Switching between the Red Line and the Dubai Tram loop? Discover the two main interchanges and how to save money with the 30-minute rule.
The 30-Minute Free Rule
If you transfer from the Metro to the Tram within 30 minutes of tapping out, the system counts it as a single continuous journey. You only pay for the total zones crossed, not for two separate tickets!
Key Interchange Points
1. Sobha Realty <=> Dubai Marina
Direct Footbridge Connection
Exit Sobha Realty Metro (Red Line) and follow signs for "Tram". Walk across the air-conditioned pedestrian bridge over Sheikh Zayed Road.
Walking distance: ~300 meters. Duration: 5-7 Minutes.
2. DMCC <=> JLT Station
Skybridge Interchange
Exit DMCC Metro Station (Red Line) via the skybridge. The JLT Tram Station (Station 11) is located directly at the foot of the bridge.
Walking distance: ~100 meters. Duration: 2 Minutes (Fastest Transfer).
Tapping Rules: Don't Get Fined!
Unlike the Red-to-Green metro interchange, the Metro-to-Tram transfer requires emotional physical gates:
- Tap OUT at the Metro station turnstile.
- Tap IN at the Tram station platform validator.
- Tap OUT at your final Tram destination.
If you fail to tap in at the tram station, you can be fined 200 AED for fare evasion, even if you have a valid metro trip active!
